Position SummaryJob Relationships:
- Reports to the Laboratory Supervisor
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a clinical laboratory required.
- Strong understanding of basic laboratory practices and biosafety protocols (BSL2).
- Experience with Orchard Harvest Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization skills. Proficiency in computer systems & data entry.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Phlebotomy experience and certification is a plus but not required.
Essential Job Duties
- Enters test values into EMR system and other patient charts.
- Receive, accession, and process clinical specimens in accordance with SOPs
- Label and prepare specimens for testing, storage, or reference laboratory send-outs.
- Perform centrifugation, aliquoting, and basic handling of biological samples.
- Ensure proper documentation and chain of custody for all specimens.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and biohazard safety in work areas.
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of lab supplies.
- Accurately enter patient and specimen data into the LIS and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff and clinic teams to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing.
- Assists in slide production, e.g. “Writing” slides.
- Support compliance efforts by adhering to CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA standards.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
